My apologies, I cannot make the meeting. Regarding orphan types: It is possible to have a type used in
the VWG’s validation rules, such as in a calculation, that is not used by
an element or attribute in the schema. It might be an orphan in the schema, but
not an orphan within wider FpML, because it is used in the validation rule
calculations or function definitions. At the moment the types used in the validation rules are
collected into a separate schema. You can view this in: https://dedicated.fpml.org/svn/fpml/branches/validation-rules/src/validation/xquery/fpml-infoset.xsd.
Today, this has only one entry, an element named period. The
VWG is doing a lot of work at the moment on resolving issues around the date
calculations that will require more schema content to support them, especially for
new functions. Please
don’t ban this feature used by the VWG without providing an alternative. Matthew
