MTF: parValue currency is always going to take the currency of the security. Validation rule should be added to enforce that when parValue is present, currency must be present.

The problem with the proposed solution from the MTF is that it contradicts the FpML Architecture – specifically the new section on Modelling Guidelines about using OO modelling.

If we followed the FpML Architecture Modelling Guidelines then parValue would be of type Money. In addition the MTF’s proposed rule would also exist.

Anyway – in summary, either the MTF must follow the Modelling Guidelines or the Modelling Guidelines must be changed.

    • This was already solved since in the underlying assets, if the par value is used, the currency element should be used.
    • There is a business validation rule enforcing this.
    • We discussed the overlap between par value and face amount. It would probably make sense to deprecate par value.
    • There was agreement to close this issue.
