Summary

I found out that the FpML specs are a bit ambiguous with respect to the definition of country codes and countryScheme.

From: http://www.fpml.org/spec/2006/tr-fpml-4-2-2006-05-08/html/fpml-4-2-schemes-frame.html

URI: http://www.fpml.org/ext/iso3166

A valid 2 character country code as defined by the ISO standard 3166 - Codes for representation of countries http://www.niso.org/standards/resources/3166.html.

It really should be "ISO 3166-1 alpha-2".

ISO 3166 is divided in various parts that define two-letter, three-letter, three-digit codes and even other stuff.

For details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166 .

    Daniel,

I raised this some time ago. I believe we agreed to use the 2 character code as standard – largely to be consistent with the business centre codes.

I have updated the documentation specifying ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. This will be available on the 4.3 Working Draft and 4.2 Recommendation.

    Thanks,
    Marc
