Then what do we choose as the canonical message type? (TradeAffirmation, TradeConfirmed, …)?
I agree that we need to encourage a “messaging mind-set” in the FpML user community, however the principal function of the product sample sets (as orginally conceived) is to illustrate construction of the trade economics. I’m not convinced that this is assisted by coercing the samples into an arbitrary business message format, other than to emphasise that the DataDocument is a deprecated form.
Product economics and message semantics are complementary (but orthogonal?)aspects of creating an FpML document, and we need to provide comprehensive examples of both aspects.

Not enough scenarios in the messaging set to cover a story and see the relationship between the messages.
We will turn some of the existing DataDocument into Messages (notification).
We should encourage DataDocument to go away.

All messaging, equity options, equity forwards examples have been converted to messages. Descriptions of these examples have been amended accordingly.

MArc changed some, others are to be done.
Equities have been changed. IRD should be done, as Harry will agree.

All examples have been converted to messages except interest rate derivatives and credit derivatives. Chairs don’t agree with these changes.
