Summary

Abstract global element underlyingAsset (instance of Asset), declared in fpml-asset-5-3.xsd, is documented in the schema annotation as:

"Define the underlying asset when it is a listed security."

This is not strictly accurate, as underlyingAsset is substitutable with instruments (bond, cash) which are not necessarily listed securities (definitely not, in the case of cash).

Recommend that the annotation is amended to (e.g.): "Define the underlying asset, either a listed security or other instrument."

Instances are found in: confirmation/fpml-asset-5-3.xsd reporting/fpml-asset-5-3.xsd reporting/fpml-generic-5-3.xsd reporting/fpml-reconciliation-5-3.xsd & all prior FpML versions from 3-0 onward.

    Harry,

This has been fixed for the upcoming 5.x and 4.x versions.

    Thanks,
    Marc
