FpML Quarterly Update Q1 2019

An update on accomplishments during the first quarter of 2019, and upcoming events.

Versions Updates

The work on version 5.11 is in full swing with the second working draft published February 2019.

The main enhancements in version 5.11 are:

1. A complete redesign of the Regulatory Reporting framework.
2. A refactoring of syndicated loan processes and notifications, including a new and expanded set of loan business validation rules.
3. New support for Security Lending.
4. New Support for Inflation Rate linked Asset Swaps.

The final Recommendation for 5.11 is planned mid-2019. See the FpML roadmap.

Coding Schemes Update

ISDA published updates to the following coding schemes:

• eventTypeScheme
• floatingRateIndexScheme
• instrumentIdScheme (added representation for FIGI)
• linkTypeScheme
• CFTC commodityReferencePriceScheme (deprecated)

The CFTC Commodity Reference Price coding scheme was deprecated on January 25 and will be removed from the coding scheme archive on the FpML website on January 25, 2020. The 1 year deprecation period allows the industry to act on the pending removal which we will reconsider upon request during the deprecation period.

FpML to ISIN JSON Generator 1.1 Released

In February, ISDA released version 1.1 of the FpML to ISIN JSON Generator for interest rate, credit, and FX derivatives.

The generator takes FpML trades as input, extracts values from relevant FpML data fields and generates the ANNA DSB-compliant JSON format which can be used to create or inquire about ISIN through the ANNA DSB. Version 1.1 adds coverage for  FX derivatives, including an automatic generation of the ISDA taxonomy values based on the trade details.

The generator is available in the following ways:

• Through an API for firms wanting to interface directly with the web service. To request access to the API, please fill out the required details.

FpML to JSON Converter - Beta Version Released

In March, ISDA released a beta version of the FpML to JSON Converter. The Converter takes FpML messages as input and generates the corresponding JSON format. The Converter follows the principles laid out in the JSON conversion paper authored by the FpML Architecture Working Group, using the FpML schemas as the basis for the conversion.

The Converter is available in the following two ways:

• On the FpML website: http://www.fpml.org/tools/fpml-to-json-converter/
• Through an API for firms wanting to interface directly with the web service. To request access to the API, please fill out the required details.

All FpML 5.x versions are supported.
