Summary
A rule is needed to enforce disjoint dividend periods. This would prevent dividendPeriods overlapping.
The new rule is: " eqd-30 (Mandatory) Context: DividendAdjustment(complex type) Rule: Each dividendPeriod must have a disjoint unadjustedDividendPeriod from every other dividendPeriod. The unadjustedDividend period starts with the unadjustedStartDate and finishes with the unadjustedEndDate. A period is disjoint with another period if the unadjustedEndDate of either period is less than the unadjustedStartDate of the other period. Comment: Each dividendPeriod must be unique. "

I propose adding a new complex type of DatePeriod. This would have a startDate and an endDate elements. This refactoring could be used broadly to link dates in periods.

Discussed at EQDWG. Continuous periods are allowed, gaps are allowed, overlaps are not allowed.
First day of the period is inclusive and the last day is exclusive in the period.

Agreed to add a new shared complex type of DatePeriod in v5.x now. This type would use it. Action: Andrew Parry.

Has the type been added in the last two months?

Requires Eqd product refactoring. Needs Cross Asset Class Product Working Group’s review/approval.
